America is Mostly Christian. Why is it so Degenerate?

66% of America is Christian. We are are a supermajority of the population. Why, then, is our culture degenerate and our government evil? There's two problems in the American church, one you hear all the time, and one you do not.

The Heresy Problem

The first reason is that the American church has failed to be orthodox. On such an objective issue as abortion, only ~60% of American Christians believe it is immoral always or most of the time. You’ve heard this many times, I imagine, and it’s true across many issues. A similar number of self-identifying Christians would say they consider “gay marriage” to be a genuine marriage, or would testify that they don’t mind hearing others blaspheme the Lord’s name. This influence emanates from church authorities occupied by heretics, but it is also partially because of the second problem, which gets very little attention.
